Keeners and New River Academy announce a $5,000 Academic Scholarship to the producer of the best original video composition illustrating a “Keeners Junior” profile or Keener just being creative.
Have you considered applying to New River Academy high school for kayakers? Do you want to go to Chile and Mexico and paddle amazing rivers after school? If yes, here is an opportunity to WIN a $5,000 Academic Scholarship and find yourself studying on the banks of, and then paddling, the best rivers in the United States, Canada, Chile, and Mexico for the 2009-2010 school year.

Video Hint/Theme
Video should profile a Keeners Junior in a creative and fun form. Profile may be of yourself.
Video must include, “I want to apply to New River Academy because…”

Video Hints may include but are not limited to:
• Still shots
• Illustrating kayak learning progressions
• Action shots
• Interviews
• Lifestyle shots
• Illustrate Keeners fun emphasis

THE RULES
• Winner must own a video camera in order to participate in NRA video class.
• Only one 2-minute video composition per member per category will be accepted.
• Entry must be solely the work of the applicant; plagiarized entries will not be accepted.
• All entries become the property of Keeners and Huge Experiences.

SUBMISSIONS
• Video Entries must be entered on the New River Academy and Keeners Facebook fans page.
• Entries must be a maximum of 2 to 3 minutes.
• Entry must be received by August 15, 2009. Entry must be posted on NRA Facebook Page.

AWARD
• $5,000 Academic Scholarship to the author of the best original video composition to be solely applied to a full year student or $3,000 for one semester.

Beginners Can Apply: Keeners/NRA Co-Discount Offer

“I’m a beginner can I apply to New River Academy?” The answer has more to do with your passion for the outdoors and being excited to be active than your experience kayaking. As a beginner you have two options that allow you to apply to New River Academy.

As a beginner you will learn safety protocol and gain confidence running rivers.

As a beginner you will learn safety protocol and gain confidence running rivers.

Option A: Keeners/NRA Beginners Discount- $300/2-week and $500/3-week Discount to New River Academy students. Additionally, New River Academy is offering a $1,000 discount on a semester to a beginner who takes advantage of the Keener camp. This is a $1,300 to $1,500 discount opportunity.
These options will teach you the fundamentals of kayaking before your semester begins.
Keener/NRA Discount & Dates:
For Beginners and Intermediates – 3 week program starting August 9th with $500/discount for NRA students + NRA $1,000 discount to a semester
For Intermediates – 2 Week program starting August 16th with $300/discount for NRA students. + NRA $1,000 discount to a semester.
Both programs finish August 28th in time for New River Academy arrival to Wilderness Tours Keeners base. That is right, your Keeners camp ends and your New River Academy semester begins at the same Keeners base.

Option B: Beginner/Intermediate Development Track- Enroll into New River Academy as a beginner. Your first weeks will teach you the basics and fundamentals of kayaking on the Ottawa River. As a beginner you will be on a development track that is exciting and will progress you at a rapid pace. At the same time your coaches will work to build your confidence running rapids and teach you river-running skills. By the end of the semester you will be surfing waves and running clean waterfalls. How cool is that?

What about the advanced paddlers at New River Academy?
As a beginner/intermediate you will be coached based on your personal ability levels. You may surf an easier wave while the advanced group runs a more difficult stretch of river. This works well for everyone. You will surprised at how fast you progress and begin to master kayaking in the NRA Development Program.
