Here is the first episode “The Jackson All-Star”

Essence of the Ottawa River Valley

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

Yesterday in photo class we went out to capture the essence of the Ottawa river valley. The country side, the country roads, train track and a decrepit train. These photo are examples of all the skills that we have learned thus far as well as our own talents at staging photos. the subjects of my photos are Melina: blue sweater, Taylor: dress and purple sweater, and Eric in the brown jacket. My photos were taken just outside of the Keenerville base on some train tracks as well as on an old parked train. I think it was parked because it was empty, and rusty, I also hoped that it was not a ghost train! Take a look at all these great pictures.

See you on the water!

Kayak School In Canada with the New River Academy

Monday, August 31st, 2009
Kayak school in canada. Go Huge crosses the border.

Kayak school in canada. Go Huge crosses the border.

The new river academy just arrived in Canada to start their 1st Fall Quarter on the Ottawa River.   With our fine accommodations at the Keeners kayak camp, we can put in at the front door of our school house.

It is a cold weekend in Canada as the Go Huge Experiences crew set up the school building and  went out for our first session on the corner wave.  Fortunately the water is warm, since Hurricane Dan has brought a cold front along with all of it’s rain.

Now the weekend is over but the adventure has just begun.  New River Academy starts class tomorrow and we will very busy with our new schedule.  But that won’t keep us from updating our posts!Kayak School Students On the long trp to the ottowa

How to Airscrew

Tuesday, May 12th, 2009

The Airscrew is one of the coolest moves out there, but also one of the trickiest! Here are steps to screwy success.

1. Come down the wave straight with speed

2. While you are edging the boat for take off lean all the way to the back of your boat.

3. Throw your head and shoulders around the side of the boat you are rotating on;  much the same as a back deck roll.

4. In the air crank your body all the way to the back deck. Also look around your stern to rotate faster; the body follows the head.

5. Resist the urge to sit up as much as you can; this will keep the trick straight.
