Zoar Teen Kayak Week
New River Academy is proud that Zoar owner Bruce Lessels recommended Tino Specht to be a student. Tino was such a great ambassador, student and athlete that New River Academy gave him a scholarship. Later, Tino would earn an internship trip to China. Tino continued to excel and would later be hired as a coach. Tino is now the head coach, a Keeners coach, a sponsored athlete, and continues to instruct for Zoar.

4-Day Teen Kayak Week
Our 4-day Teen Kayak Week is for kids ages 14-18 who want to learn or improve their whitewater kayaking and take a more aggressive attitude toward participation in sports.
In this teen oriented kayaking program, we follow a progression of learning from flatwater kayaking, where we use a games- and challenge-based approach to teach or refine the basics of kayaking, to moving water and then on to whitewater. We focus on essential kayaking techniques and fundamental paddling skills including eddy turns, peel outs, ferries and surfing waves that will create a solid foundation for further progression in the sport of whitewater kayaking.
